Leo was born and raised in Natchez, MS, on the same property that River Town Retrievers now calls home. A lifelong hunter, Leo also spent his youth competing at the highest levels in the horse world. He began his professional career as an attorney for his family’s oil and gas well-drilling business, but his passion for training retrievers quickly became more than a hobby. After countless hours of hands-on work and learning under several respected mentors, he followed that passion full-time and founded River Town Retrievers.
Leo enjoys working with dogs at all stages and competing across multiple venues. He believes that a well-rounded retriever with solid fundamentals can reach the highest levels their God-given talent allows. This approach has led River Town Retrievers to considerable success, including multiple Grand Hunting Retriever Champions, Super Retriever Series Open and Amateur Champions, Qualifying and Derby wins, and Master National plates. Leo’s current competitive focus is AKC Hunt Tests and the Super Retriever Series.
